INTRODUCTION
The Chemistry Department at the University of Balochistan is the largest Department of the University in terms of the number of students enrolled and the number of faculty members. The Department of Chemistry was established in 1971 and the first chairperson was Dr. Ijaz A. Malik. On the time of establishment the department offers only three subjects for specialization named Physical, Inorganic and Organic. Now it has a vigorous academic program comprising of courses leading to M.Sc. degree as well as research for M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees and independent research projects undertaken by the various faculty members. It has well equipped teaching labs and research activities were carried out with departmental resources. There is a Departmental Library having a very large number of text and reference books and some back issues of journals.
