The language's historical significance is deeply intertwined with the Mehrgarh, Recognized globally for its academic value, Brahui has recently gained international acclaim, with its inclusion as a taught language at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS), Japan, in 2023, marking a milestone in its global recognition. Established in 1992 as an independent department, the Brahui Department has evolved from its humble beginnings as a subject within Pakistan Studies (1974) to a pioneering center of excellence, driving interdisciplinary research, linguistic innovation, and cultural revival.
